I really don't want to sound like I'm flacking for the company, but when I find something that REALLY works well, I want to tell everyone.
For what it's worth, I've been RVing for more than 55 years, the last three full-time. The coach we have now is a 2008, and after purchase it was completely refurbished and upgraded so we could boondock more or less indefinitely. Hence the 2,400 watts of solar on the roof, and another 1,600 watts on the trailer connected by an umbilical cord.
The 3 A/C units were the original Dometics, with the standard configuration of the front and back being 15,000 btu, and the middle being 13,500 btu. Since the A/C units were working and were clean, they weren't replaced.
A few weeks ago the decision was made to upgrade, and 3 new Fogatti InstaCool units were installed. (The Dometics were put on Facebook, and sold in less than 2 hours! Who knew?) These units are each 18,000 btu, a significant increase in cooling capacity, especially for the middle one that had only been 13,500.
I wish we'd done this sooner. Because they have so much extra capacity, we are running one A/C round the clock (remember, off the batteries). During the day we run the middle A/C. It doesn't make the air frigid (usually keeps it about 82 to 84 degrees on hot days), but because the humidity has been removed the air feels much cooler than that. (And there's a floor Dyson providing an additional breeze.) There's no way the original middle Dometic by itself, at 13,500 btu would ever have kept a 43 foot coach this comfortable. After the sun sets we switch to the rear A/C in the bedroom/bath area, and in no time the temperature is a crisp 69 degrees back there, perfect for sleeping. (The photo shows the temperature of the air coming out of the A/C vent.)
To top it all off, the Fogatti units use between 20 and 25 percent LESS electricity than the original A/C units. So we're getting a large increase in cooling capacity at a much lower electric usage. Can't beat that.
