Check coolant additive warning started showing up on my 2014 f350. Did some checking online and with friends and there seems to be some disagreement over what it means. Some say just check the coolant level and others say you are supposed to test the coolant to make sure it hasnt deteriorated.

I know there are 2 coolant reservoirs and probably a separate coolant additive and i know how to clear the alert. I dont want to clear it till i do what is needed. Once it warms up and stops snowing i will go through the manual and get under the hood to figure it out. I will probably give my diesel mechanic back in pa tomorrow.

Seems like i should be doing something about the coolant additive and not just the coolant

In the meantime does anyone know what the warning is for and what i need to do before i clear it?

Wouldn't it be easier to just open the hood and check the coolant level? Add coolant if needed.
I can guarantee you there is no coolant analysis sensor telling you your coolant has deteriorated.

I am sure the warning is based on time or mileage. The most confusing part was whether it was really about the coolant or the coolant additive

There is a lot of stuff on these that ford added to address various issues and i want to make sure it lasts as long as possible
