I'm trying to find a postive reverse light wire I can use to trigger my backup camera on a 2006 Ford E-450 chassis. I know I can tap it at the light, but that is a long way to run a wire from there all the way up to the dash. I've read a few places that it can be accessed from the harness in the driver's kick panel area. But I have not been able to find it. Some sites say black/pink, others say light blue/white, I've tried them both plus a couple others. The black/pink is twisted together with orange/red so that seems to be a pair that is related.

Anyone know which wire is the reverse lights?

A test lamp with a sharp pointed end to penetrate the insulation is what mechanics use to track down a wire. I installed my camera to an ignition wire so the camera is on whenever the engine is running. It eliminates the blind spot so you can see small cars tailgating you.

Same here but with a switch to turn off on long runs like I 10 through Texas

That method works most of the time but unless you know what specific wire you tapped, you can create problems.

I had a bad experience with my 1989 3/4, 8 ft bed Extended Cab GMC Sierra. I bought the truck new off the lot and asked them to install a second battery for my camper. The salesman told me to save some money and go to the place "they send them to" and not pay the dealer profit for the same work.

As I watched, the wrench monkey at the RV place installed the solenoid isolator for the camper battery and used the needle test lamp tool and found an "ignition on wire" to control it. Soon after, I started having electrical problems and the voltmeter gauge in the dash failed. Dealer fixed it under warranty. Same thing happened again but this time I figured out what was going on so I found a real "ignition wire" and rewired the solenoid control to it. Dealer changed out the gauge again, no questions asked.

But I like the idea of hot wiring the back up camera with a switch. Simple and convenient.
