It's an ad. On Chrome mine does this, on another platform that I don't get any ads, it does not.My Chromebook has a one inch semi transparent bar at the bottom of my screen. It began after the forum upgrade and this is the only site it happens on.

I see a version of the same thing on my Android tablet and laptop (Firefox). I'll get it reported.I just tried the search feature and got an Oops! message. I typed in Post a Joke like I always do. Are there problems with the search feature?
Thanks for the quick response Tom.I see a version of the same thing on my Android tablet and laptop (Firefox). I'll get it reported.
Yes - Signatures appear on every post; some are very long, taking up more vertical space on the page than the post they are attached to. They do, however, provide valuable info. We looked at the average length of signatures and made a choice of three as the best option based on existing sigs vs. post length. It's a compromise position that is likely to annoy a few members with big signatures but makes the overall scrolling experience a little better. Thanks for being a good sportAny particular reason for the limitation on the number of lines? No big deal, just wondering.
For one example, go to the Escapees Forum. Imagine having to scroll past something like this filling your screen below every message this person posts. We migrated off of Compuserve/AOL decades ago because of ads that hogged less screen space than this.Any particular reason for the limitation on the number of lines? No big deal, just wondering.

I've even seen worse where a user posts every piece of machinery they own or have owned. Do people really care to see all that? I don't think so!For one example, go to the Escapees Forum. Imagine having to scroll past something like this filling your screen below every message this person posts.
Click on your photo. There's a tab with BookmarksSpeaking of Bookmarks...I see I can make 'em, but how do I go back to them?
I agree BUT folks are touchy about signatures, and almost any change in the forum view. I get it, change it hard...I've even seen worse where a user posts every piece of machinery they own or have owned. Do people really care to see all that? I don't think so!
IMO, 3 lines should be plenty.
Aha-- thanks! Recently figured out that can be a useful feature.Click on your photo. There's a tab with Bookmarks
OK, I've been off for a while, now it appears the website has been updated. No issues, except it won't let me use my User Name to log in. It says I have to use my email address, although it still lists my User Name in my Account Details. Is there a way to change it back? I read through all 5 pages of this thread and didn't find a post with exactly that info. Thanks!
In case you missed it, our forum will go offline overnight Sunday 3/23-Monday 3/24, and is planned to return Thursday, March 27. A reminder to please be aware of the following change to the login requirements when you come to the upgraded forum:
Email/Password Login: if you were using a display name as you logged in, you will now need to use the email address associated with your forum account and your existing password.
If you're unsure of the email address associated with your account, click your name in the menu bar at the top of the page (now) to view your account details.
If you're unable to log in when we return, click the Contact Us link at the bottom right of the page.
Have you got the thread in "watch" ? When you add that it asks if you want email notifications. Could be that.Even though I've not checked these options to not receive the emails as shown below, I am still getting them as well as notices via the "Alerts" bell in the forum software as well.
Don't really want the emails but Perhaps I'm missing something?

Hmmm.... I thought if a thread was watched it would honor options I set in the settings I posted above in post #97. If I "Unwatch", I assume that I wouldn't get any notices-- "Alerts" or email. Because the "ignore" feature needed to be reset, I was thinking maybe this was the same.Hmmm.... I thought if a thread was watched it would honor options I set in the settings I posted above in post #97. If I "Unwatch", I assume that I wouldn't get any notices-- "Alerts" or email. (?)

Not really a big deal, just not sure why it doesn't work the way it used to.
