FOund a new, and SCARY reason to love my RV today.

This is RV related only in that new RV's can have this same problem and a former co-worker of mine used to say I was crazy to tow a trailer (Back then) when I could for the same amount get a hotel room.. Ok, Read on.

One of the people I follow on Facebook is Mercedes Lackey.

Today she posted that she woke up unable to walk steady, Disoriented, Hallucinating. and she was afraid she was having a stroke (NOT a it turned out).  She tried to call 9-1-1 but hit a wrong number. Finally got the hotel operator and help all but flew into her room (She is at a Science Fiction Convention and she is a very VIP at those events)... Everybody, hotel doc included, thought the same as she.  However one of her handlers (VIP's have escort/handler) had a different idea. At the hospital he repeated a complaint he had been making at the convention about "Out gassing" from some new stuff in the hotel. Docs ran a Tox screen.. Cleaned her out, and sent her back to a new, well aired out, DEEP CLEANED, Room at the hotel.

She had been Poisoned.... BY HER HOTEL ROOM.

I love my RV.    (Just wish I could get it closer to one or two of those conventiond She attends. I used to attend 'em too).

Oh it is a hotel room and a fairly good one as well.  One of the better rooms in the hotel as a rule for someone like Ms. Lackey.. She is a famous author so the convention gives her the full VIP bit. best room (Only not this time)..  I've attended many of those conventions when they were near me. sometimes commuting sometimes staying at the hotel... And I've even met the lady at one of the conventions.

I hope she has some good lawyers who can properly "Thank" the hotel for poisoning her.

And I have a feeling the GenCon Con_Con (Convention Comittee) will be looking for a new hotel. Like right now.

I can't find the reference online, so my facts may be a bit off, but there was some horrible pandemic (maybe an Avian Flu outbreak?) where patient 0 spent one night in a hotel and didn't interact with anyone. They traced the source of the outbreak to the "9th floor" button in the elevator that he, and everyone else on his floor, touched.

Never heard that one... In this case From what I understand other guests were complaining of the "Fumes" and outgassing

Indiana Convention Center is where the convention is being held. Several hotels surrounding.

New furnishings and/or carpeting is my GUESS... I am hoping she has lawyers who will get to the root of the problem  Or that there is a full investigation.  This is a serious issue.  And she was not the only guest at the hotel affected.. Just the MOST affected, far as I know.

I love the stuff they spray over smoke to make it a "nonsmoking" room.  Smells like that stuff would kill ya in night or two!
