Members focused on the fact that the pump working from the winterizing hose makes the pump and downstream plumbing less likely to be the problem. Several suggested checking the tank level, the suction line from the tank, the selector or winterizing valve, fittings, inline filter, and any air leak or blockage between the tank and pump; the city water check valve was considered unlikely because water would have been seen coming out of the city connection when the pump ran.
