From Sarnia Ontario (Port Huron, Michigan) to New Orleans

Going to be leaving Ontario by Dec 15 and want to spend Christmas around New Orleans. Want a route that avoids Appalachia because I expect snow by that time. Hoping that a Mississippi river route would be least stressful so we are planning through Memphis and south to the Mississippi  and the gulf coast.

Newbies's from Saskatchewan.
Any suggestions.

Have changed our plans to enter the US now through Detroit but would still like to hear your recommendations of what route to take after that point-we will be watching weather forecasts in an attempt to avoid blizzards but as we have never traveled this route we need some expert advice.
