A member vented after a simple Dunkin coffee stop turned into a slow kiosk order, a crowded pickup area, and a bad cup of coffee, then invited others to comment on similar changes such as self-checkout, forced apps, gas pump noise, and difficult websites. Many members shared similar frustrations with kiosks, QR code menus, app-only processes, automated pharmacy check-ins, self-checkout without discounts, and tip prompts for minimal or no service.

Other members said they like some of the...

Chris uses Humana insurance and pharmacy. She places an order (phone call or online), and they arrive in the mail next day, wherever we are.

With one exception, I use either a local CVS pharmacy (usually use their app), or an alternate where there's no CVS. One exception is a special order ($$$) that I order by phone, online, or text. It has to be kept refrigerated, and arrives in a refi'd container next day UPS wherever we are.

BTW their milkshakes are $4.99.
That 99 cent BS doesn't work well with me. To me, $4.99 sounds like a bigger number than five bucks. That is because the "9"s are large numbers.

I hear they are no longer making pennies. But I doubt the 99 cent BS will go away.

I wonder if gas stations will ever get rid of their 4.999 BS. Five bucks even sounds a lot cheaper to me wiothout those large 9's.

I can get most of my shopping done without ever getting out of the vehicle, except for opening the cargo door.
Whoa! No push button to open there?? :D

Pretty much the same MO here. Hour's drive to a market/store of any size and typically do the order online and pickup at the store. BUT, unlike you I'm able to push a button to open the rear hatch door! But.. sometimes I do have to actually get out and arrange some things to make room for the packages.

Irony is that during our 4-5 month winter travels staying exclusively at State & COE parks, I can't think of many parks where we're not less than an hour away from a Walmart. Sometimes just a few minutes.

With nearly every business pushing for me to use their app, and most fast food places only doing offers via the app, makes me wonder how many other companies they are selling my info to🤔🤨

My Towed is coming up on 20 years old. Non of that fancy remote stuff for me. :sneaky:

I refuse to use apps for food. It is just sending a message that I want them to send me more advertising.

I rarely go inside a MacD, or eat their food; The kiosk day was an exception. I do like their milkshakes, and will buy them at the drive-through. They always ask "are you using the app today?" Er, no.

BTW their milkshakes are $4.99. When I hand over $5, $10 or $20, they don't give me $0.01 in my change.
Lots of places are doing that now that the US has stopped making pennies. Rounding up or down to the nearest nickel if you pay cash.

Understood Lou. They did that for 2 of my last visits to a McD drive through, and the third time I was surprised when asked "do you want the penny?" I have an issue that the prices on their large screen show the $xx.99 prices.

It's marketing 101, intended for the $4 to sound much less than $5.
A few years ago, I told a fellow I wanted $6,000 firm for a car I was selling. He was surprised when he offered me $5999 and I said no and walked away. I didn't get far before he called me back and agreed to the $6000. After we signed the papers, he asked if I was really going to walk away from $5999, and I told him no, and handed him a dollar. Then he bought lunch. :)

If I'm not in a hurry, I like to go to a self checkout and hold my finger over the barcode and just keep swiping it and looking around while the line grows behind me until a human finally comes forward to assist the frail old guy.

I think my trigger is the 9/10 of one cent at filling stations. That's always irritated me; how there's not a penny to split.
