Ron, I would like to ask what kind of unit you are driving and cruising speed to use 80GPH.

Jim, that's our other RV, aka the waterborne one. A pair of 660hp CATs pushing 50,000 lbs of boat suck 40 gph each at a cruising speed of 28 knots. This was a lot more palatable when diesel was $1 something a gallon. Strangely enough, above say 1700 RPM the GPM (gallons per mile) doesn't change all the way up to cruise. As RPM and speed increase, the boat is sitting flatter/higher in the water and runs more efficiently.

There was an article about a boat in a recent Forbes magazine for which a fill up was $360,000 BUT at it slower cruising speed (12 to 18 MPH as I remember) it was estimated that the one fill up should last about 18 months.  Somehow that seems to still be a lot of money!

That's an expensive fill-up Jerry. Glad I'm not paying that bill  ;D
