A member compared gasoline prices with EV charging costs after stopping at new EVgo CCS fast chargers at the Pilot Travel Center in Fernley, Nevada while riding a 2025 Energica Experia electric motorcycle. Using a rough estimate of 7 miles per kWh for freeway motorcycle riding, the member calculated that $0.53 per kWh DC fast charging costs far more than home charging at 11.05 cents per kWh, so the biggest savings come from charging at home rather than on the road.

I wonder if Sturgis is set up for an influx of electric motorcycles.
Not much of an issue. There are many charge stations in and on the way to Sturgis.

Electric motorcycles can also be charged up at the RV parks. Charge with any AC voltage from 90 to 250 VAC.

Many motorcycles are towed in Sturgis, and I mean gas Harleys--they often stay at the RVs parks. But the RV parks then cost around five times the normal rate (this year from August 7 to 16, 2026). And cannot do single nights. A week minimum then at most of the RV parks during the rally.

Yes, I often wonder why so many people are in such a big hurry all the time to do nothing.

I have always enjoyed my charge breaks. I would rather type these messages under a tree in the mountains or at Lake Tahoe or the Truckee Airport or whatever than sitting here at home, but to each their own.

Because they work for a living and really don't want to sacrifice their precious time worshiping at the climate change alter.

I was mainly referring to retired people. When I was working, I did not own an EV. But perhaps I should have because that would have been the only place I needed to charge up-- free. for all employees to use. That would have been very convenient for me. Saves time as much as does charging at home. Never needing to go to a gas station is a big plus.

FWIW, I have not charged either of my cars on the road for several years. I have never charged my Chevy Bolt on the road accept for one time for a few minutes just to be sure it worked.

I charged my Tesla on the road two times in year 2019. Both were overnight trips. That was the last time I needed a charge on the road for any of my EV cars.

It's only my motorcycles that are often charged on the road, mainly because they have less than half the range of my EV cars. And I have always enjoyed the charge breaks.
