Hey guys, I have a '01 F150 SuperCrew 5.4L, and according to my car's manual, it should have a tow rating of 8,000 lbs., and i know that this rating can be skewed quite a bit depending on the rear gear set. How can I be sure what my rear gear ratio is? i did some snooping around online to see if it could be decoded out of the VIN, but came up empty handed. any thoughts?

Joe

You should be able to take it to any Ford dealer and they can tell you just how it came from the factory.

I recently took mu Dodge into an out of state Dodge dealer and they pulled up all the details on engine and drive train.

Though the transmission MAY be encoded into the vin the rear end is not (I have a bit of expierence with vins)

As someone else said, go to a dealer, or write ford customer assistance

Here is a URL you might use FORD
