generator putting out 51 volts

I put a new control board in my onan 7000  but only getting 51 volts  ac. how do I check the voltage regulator?

Hi Jim. Welcome to the RVForum. How did you measure the generator's output voltage? To the best of my knowledge, Onan generators will start flashing an error code on the start switch when their output voltage is outside an acceptable threshold. Are you getting any error messages?

What was the original problem that caused you to replace the control board?

I could not start it from inside the rv. after changing the board it starts right up, but now the solenoid in the fuse panel  just chattered. I measured the voltage there first then I checked it at the generator and it was 51volts there too. I checked the brushes and polished the stator but still 51 voltage. not sure if there is a way to trouble shoot the regulator.
