Hello everyone! I am looking to buy this 1999 Travel Supreme 40 footer and have it moved by the end of this year from my TX home to CA to reside while working as a travel nurse.

1999 Travel Supreme
Fifth Wheel Series M-40 RLSO

I know the family that has had it and they have maintained it well as full timers so knowing its history and getting a good price, I couldn't pass it up.

It's been a while since I've owned an RV, so to get it road ready I wanted to be thorough and ask for a checklist/suggestions of things I should or should not do to make the trek from East TX to Northern CA.

1. Any suggestions on reputable companies/ insured individuals to pull it?
2. Are 7 ( spare) new 10 ply tires ok for this trek as it will be stationary as a permanent home?
3. I will have the bearings packed, anything else the tire shop should be looking for?
4. The roof has been sealed this year.
5. Anything in the 5th wheel set up that needs to be lubricated or checked ? It has been stationary for over 10 yrs, but occupied.
6. Anything to do inside, there will be no loose items and I know to turn off the fridge, hot water heater, empty tanks etc?

THANK YOU so very much!

Welcome to the Forum! We will try to help.

Remember this is a 25 year old FW. It needs some current TLC. Some you have already mentioned. My list would include
New Tires (Done?)
Inspect and repack wheel bearings. Inspect brakes. Verify they work.
Very close inspection of suspension. Are all welds in good shape? Lube everything that moves. Are shackles in good condition?
Verify under body cover is firmly attached.
Verify tail lights, turn signal and brake lights all work.
Personally inspect the roof, looking for any holes or cracks in the TPO and in caulk around openings. This inspection should be done yearly even if it never moves.
Lube slide gears and slide wiper / seals.
Verify slides work before moving day.
Tanks empty.
Propane off.

On the inside, just check that everything is secure.
Every drawer closed and secure.
Every cabinet door closed and secure.
Ever door in travel position and secured.
Nothing blocking the slide path when retracted.
All inside switches and lights off. Water pump, Water heater, fridge,
Nothing on the floor to slip under the slide.
Nothing on the countertop which could fall.

I am sure I missed something. Others will add those items.

Good luck on the move!

Check the manufacturing date on the tire including the spare. Most manufacturers recommend replacing them if they are more than 6 yrs old.

Check the entire suspension. Here is some info about what to look for

I would have the slide seals checked and lubricated but that doesnt need to be done to move it.

Verify the brakes work well and the breakaway brake controller ans cable are in good shape

Looks like it is in decent shape from the pics

Travel Supreme did build a quality line of RVs so yours definitely started well. If the people that you bought it from were the original owners, you have found an unusual RV as very few are kept for 25 years. I'll leave most of the advice on prep to others since I have never owned a fifth wheel but have owned many RVs. My first question is, have you any idea of what it is going to cost to have it moved? On average, the per-mile fee for fifth-wheel trailer shipping is approximately $3 per mile for a distance under 100 miles. However, the longer the trip, the less you pay per mile. For distances between 100 to 1,000 miles, you can expect to pay $1 per mile.
