Member Title: Spring RV ready time
As spring approaches, RVers in northern regions are preparing to bring their rigs out of winter storage, a process many find both exciting and nerve-wracking. Members commonly report discovering unexpected issues after removing covers, such as evidence of critter activity or damage from subzero temperatures, despite thorough fall preparations. The typical routine involves checking the engine, appliances, slide outs, and especially water systems, which are often vulnerable to winter’s...

It is almost time for those of us in the North to get the RV out of hibernation and get it ready for summer adventures. For me it is the scariest time of the year. It seems every year after I remove the cover, I find problems I didn't have last fall. Little critters that may have used it no matter how I prepared for them.
After removing and storing the RV cover, I start with the engine and work my way through all the appliances, Slide Outs, and water systems. I have to energize everything to make sure it works before we head out on our first adventure. It seems once I turn on the water system and check my tanks and fixtures, the subzero temperatures have taken a toll.
I wish everyone luck this spring with the rollout, I hope it isn't that expensive.
I went inside yesterday and the batteries have to be changed in all my smoke alarms and CO2 detector has to be changed.

I’m 2 weeks from winterizing the fiver and headed home.
Wont dewinterize the toy hauler for at least another 6 weeks. Lol

A different perspective from many snowbirds such as us:

It is almost time for us snowbirds in the North to put the RV in hibernation and get it ready for summer adventures at home. :)

Yeah, it can be exciting, mysterious, or frustrating breaking the rig out from Winter hibernation. It's amazing how things "break" over the Winter on a perfectly put away RV. I experienced the same phenomenon during my boating years.

This year, and 3 out of the last 4 seasons we've had February departures from WNY. It's challenging leaving at that time of year because you can't de-winterize, carry water, or even load your food and beverages until
the night before departure. We won't open the slides in fear of tearing frozen slide out seals. Our first stop down the highway is hopefully below the frost belt wondering how will everything operate.
