It’s not unusual for my 3d printer to sit idle for a week or more but it got a workout this last week. I needed a mount in my motorhome for the GPS. I didn’t want to deface the dash in case I decided to move it. Every surface is a compound curve so suction cups won’t work. I found a spot where I could use the existing AV port and a trim screw. I did add two more screws but they are along the edge and would look like they belong if I removed the mount.
Pictured is the design and implementation I came up with. The original Garmin mount snaps onto the ball. The support arm has detents every 5°.

I would love to have a 3D printer, but I find I would need to do stuff I don’t need. Great use. The darn things amaze me!

Bill, once you have a printer you will find lots of things to do with it. Kevin has printed all kinds of organizers for the house, the motorhome, and my sewing area. He printed a replacement window latch for TonyL while we were in Quartzsite one year. He has printed handy plastic bag carriers for a friend with weak hands; she LOVES them! He prints lovely Christmas decorations, a number of which go as presents. And let’s face it, he just like the 3D design tasks!

One of my first 3-D prints: My Jeep Cherokee Latitude the headlight switch was in the absolutely wrong spot my knee would hit it getting either in or out an punch it through the dash.
Downloads a Bracelet.stl and adjusted the size a bit of GOOP adheasive and now the braclet is bigger than the hole, No more problem (Well other than the rear ender who totaled it) New jeep switch different spot) Also several other goodies. I make a lot of signs and things as well
Desk stands. (Multiple radios here have desk stands 3-d Printed) and other "Toys"
Even musical instruments (Recorders)

There are 1000’s, if not millions of printable designs free for download on several sites. But the real power is unlocked when you start designing your own to fill a need. And as Pam said, you have more needs than you can imagine.
I’m just a beginner with CAD but I struggle along. I settled on OnShape free version CAD. At first I was turned off with it being web based. But I’ve found that to be a real advantage.
