Grandfather RV Park - Boone,NC

The wife and I are interested in a winter ski trip to Sugar Mtn in Boone, NC. The closest park is Grandfather RV Park. It appears nice on their website. Since we are new to RV'ing I am concerned about small, steep mountain roads. Does anyone have any knowledge of the roads leading to the park? We are coming from the Memphis, TN area (I-40). We would rent a 4X4 vehicle to commute to the actual ski area (about 18 miles) to and from the park. We're driving a 40' Phaeton diesel. Tips? Advice? Thanks all.

I am not familiar with RV Parks in that area. I would call the RV Park and ask them.  Hopefully one of the framily will be able to give you some information.
