We’re towing a 34’ 5th wheel and am looking for overnight camping stops along I-70 traveling from Green River UT to NW KS. Any recommendations on sites in Colorado? Thx

Grand Junction Area has several good camping spots and some very cool scenery. It's an easy day from Green River. After that I-70 is the most direct route, but it can be very interesting. Summit County has great Camping, as well. Then down the hill on I-70 into and through Denver Metro can be really, um, "Interesting"
If going over I-70 through the Tunnels, and then down through Denver Metro doesn't sound like your can of Beans, You can go north at Rifle, CO on CO 13 up to Wyoming and I-80, East to Julesburg, CO. From there south on US 385 down to Wray, CO. From Wray, East on US 34 to Haigler and south to St Francis, KS. There are a number of decent camping areas around there, and St Francis has a pretty amazing Motorcycle Museum that is worth checking out.

Lars Mac:
I’ll have to give this some thought. (Funny you mentioned St. Francis motorcycle museum. That’s our destination and my BIL helped start that. It’s really fun and interesting.)
We’re coming from our home in Las Vegas, leaving 9/23, and we might even consider taking the southern 1-40 route.
Thanks so much for your help.

I-40 is an easier drive, though you miss the mountains. Then again, the lack of serious mountains is what makes it an easier drive! Lots of native sites in New Mexico. Palo Duro Canyon isn’t too far outside Amarillo. Amarillo has some nice museums too. Hwy 287 north from Amarillo is a good road and gets you to a number of options into Kansas.

Thank you so much for your response. The I-40 route is certainly tempting.

I-40 to I-25 is an easy route and avoids Denver. No reason to go as far as Amarillo on I-40. There are a lot of RV parks, state parks, etc along the way. I liked Homolovi State Park near Winslow and Black Mesa Casino north of Abq.
