Hello All:

Originally I am from the Philadelphia area. I have been living and working in china for the past 5 years, teaching English, computer Science and business subjects. The time is now coming for me to return to the US. I am trying to settle on a viable living arrangement and RV life is high on the list. Trouble is I never owned an RV so I don't know all the ins and outs. I want to study the board and communicate with anyone who has time to answer my long list of questions.

Hoodzah,

Welcome to our forum. Other forum members here have done what you're planning to do i.e. returned to the U.S. and bought an RV.

In addition to our message boards, we have a number of articles in our library that you might find helpful. Click on the Library button above, then select one of the 18 categories and pick an article.

Meanwhile, feel free to post your questions and we'll try to get them answered.

One favor - keep us abreast of your progress (when you return to the U.S., which RV you buy, etc). Others will be able to learn from your experiences. Thanks.

Welcome to the RV Forum.  As Tom mentioned others here have worked overseas then returned to the US and bought a RV.  Please feel free to ask questions and we will try to provide the answers for you.  Glad you found us.

Hi H,

Welcome to the forum. This is the place to learn all you need to know about the RV lifestyle. We have been full timers for 9 years. Ask your questions and be prepared for lots of answers.

Hoodzah,

Welcome to our RV forum, and, as you have seen in the messages so far, there are many resources here in the experience of our members, in our searchable messages that are always available and never cycle off and in our library files. The free sharing of knowledge is one of our core values. Having friends and an enjoyable way of life are two more.

While all you would need to know can be obtained here, there is at least one web site where you also can learn a lot. This site was started by an Rv organization that originally was composed of only full time RVer's. Now it has expanded to include all serious RVer's, whether they are full timers or not. They also value assisting those that desire to learn. They are the Escapees Rv Club and their site is at http://www.escapees.com.

I also have some understanding of your present situation. One of my very closest college friends, Doug and his wife Janeen Weeks at the end of August last year arrived from Syracuse NY at the Suzhou College of Health Technology in 20 Shuyan Lane, Sanyuanfang Suzhou, Jangsu 21502 P.R. China -that's near Shanghai where they already had friends. They are teachin and enjoying it. Doug & I exchange email regularly and I am slowly learning more and more about the vital, thriving economy and cultures they are experiencing. I'm not sure if they rented out their home in Syracuse or sold it before they left, I never asked.

So, with some personal understanding of your situation on my part, ask, and we will try not to overload you with all the newest toys, electronics and luxury features now available in RVs without giving you an in-depth knowledge of the several major types of RV's suitable for full time living in North America.
