Have you joined a WIT chapter?

Many chapters of the Winnebago Itasca Travelers club hold several rallies a year.

Having purchased our 2013 Reyo T in July, we are new to WIT and the Colorado Columbines chapter of WIT. It has about 37 members. About 24 members and a couple of guest units attended the chapter's October rally in Ft. Collins last week.

We were welcomed warmly and had a great time talking trips, motorhomes and retirement. And we went on some neat tours that got us out and about. When members saw that we travel without a toad, several offered us rides to the outside events. The Wagon Masters who put this event on out did themselves organizing the event, tours, a business meeting and, of course, meals.

Our club's motto: Until we eat again.

That's a great motto.

We joined the Alamo Winnies maybe three years ago and have had fun with them.  There are several state rallies (Texas W) each year and we usually make one or two of them.

Yes, we joined the Rainier Ramblers in Washington State in 2007.  A great bunch of people.  We usually have outings from April through December.  In July we had a great 3 plus week trip into Canada.

As noted above, we stumbled on a fantastic Winnebago Itasca
Travelers (WIT) chapter, the Colorado Columbines. DW found that they were
holding a rally, signed up for the rally, which was a blast, and joined the
chapter.

What's great about our chapter is that:

1. They are more than 20 years old and prospering.
2. They hold both in state and out-of-state rallies, including one in Yuma, AZ.
3. Their rallies include scheduled tours of the area where the rally is held.
4. They organize at least a meal a day, including potlucks and catered dinners.
5. Charter members still are active.
6. New members and visitors are welcomed with open arms.
7. They have money in the bank. Not a lot, but enough to cover expenses.
8. Officers are elected for one-year terms but often serve two or more years.
9. They hold off season events such as museum tours, Christmas parties.
10. They try to make strong showings at GNR, the annual Winnebago rally in its
headquarters Forrest City, IA.
11. They've won national WIT prizes for being a strong chapter.

But you may want a different kind of chapter:

1. No organized tours.
2. Long time president, officers.
3. Only one or two rallies and events a year.
4. Less work for officers, Wagon Masters who take turns hosting and organizing
events.

More experienced WIT members may want to add to these points.

We joined at the GNR in 2010 and we are in Ohio and the youngest at 53 years old I am the Vice president and will be Co President on Jan 1st.I did my first wagon master at Shipshawana Ind.We had a 3 day Rally .First day the RV Hall of fame second day some RV tours and last day shopping and family style dinner .Lots of fun. We tow but not everybody does so we had a lot of full cars going to all the events.We have learned a lot from the old timers and they like the new blood to take over after they have done all the work for all these years.It was a lot of work but fun at the same time.
I think every body should try it at least once .

Today the Colorado Columbines took a nice guided tour of the brand new History Colorado Center, a $110 million facility at 12th and Broadway/Lincoln in Denver. Although there is more negativity in the exhibits (poor Indians, etc.) that I'd like, the exhibits are incredible. We plan to go back many times, just to get away from the fridge.

Drive your toads and part in the garage across from the Center at 12th and Lincoln (one way south bound, west side of the center.)

Christmas Party is next month at a suburban country club. This is a fun group.
