How do these compare. I have been looking at 2018 models and they are listed at 47K-48K the GW being more than the Sierra. From what I have read the GW is higher end. Is there that much difference in quality in these two. Looking for something to use now for vacations and long weekends and to eventually in 4-5 yrs live in somewhere warm during the winter. Please share any insight anyone might have on the brands, floor plans, price....this is our first RV btw and I have found some awesome info on this forum. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Forum!

First, please check the model numbers.  I found no Gateway 3712MBRD listed.  A 3712 RDMB was a bunk house.

The most important factor is FLOOR PLAN!  Which floor plan do YOU like better?  On this, my opinion does not matter.

Both campers appear to be decent mid grade FW.  Either should serve you well.

Look at used campers of the same models.  Let somebody else get all the factory issues resolved and pay the big depreciation bill.

What is our tow vehicle?  You are firmly in 1 ton truck territory, maybe dually.  Both campers had 15,500# GVWR, so both will have a 3100# pin wt.  Add the weight of a hitch and a couple passengers, and you are at 3600# plus.  NO WAY will a ? ton truck handle this load, and any ? ton truck will be overloaded as well.
