VEHICLE AND TRAILER MUST NOT EXCEED ANY OF THESE VALUES,

GVWR
4831 KG / 10650 LBS

GCWR
10886 KG / 24000 LBS

RGAWR:
2994 KG / 6600 LBS

CURB WEIGHT:
3315 KG / 7308 LBS

MAX PAYLOAD:
1516 KG / 3342 LBS

SAE J2807 TRAILER WEIGHT RATING (TWR) FOR VEHICLE CONFIGURATION.

CONVENTIONAL TWR:

MAX TONGUE WEIGHT:
658 KG / 1450 LBS

GOOSENECK TWR:

MAX TONGUE WEIGHT:

2490 LBS

To all you experienced pullers out there What is the maximum travel trailer and 5th wheel (loaded up) I can pull. Still trying to figure out which to buy. Thanks for the help

Forgot to mention me wife dog will add 450 and will involve extended trips after retirement and mountain work will be involved. Want it to be comfortable not chaotic ride. Thanks again

The SAE J2807 data gives you the answer to that. The trailer GVWR and tongue/pin weight have to comply with the max conventional (trailer) or gooseneck (5W) weight limits. The trailer tongue weight should be equal or less than the SAE max tongue weight. Max 5W pin weight is a little trickier - it's part of the truck cargo and its additional weight must not cause the truck's max payload to be exceeded.

When trailer shopping, estimate the conventional trailer tongue weight at 10% of the trailer GVWR or 20% for a 5W pin weight. That assumes the loaded trailer weight won't exceed the trailer GVWR. If it does, the fix is to reduce the load! Never buy a trailer with a GVWR higher than what your truck's tow limits can handle.
