Hello we are Michele and Jared from Rio Rancho, NM.  We are new to RVing and just bought a 1997 Monaco Windsor from my husbands Aunt.  It in excellent condition as it sat for 10 years in her driveway with only 1 use from her.  We are looking forward to many trips with our 3 toddlers and our happy dog.  We have tested the waters driving it back from Cali (where we are originally from) and one trip to Durango, CO.

We are so glad to see there is a friendly forum place for us to connect with and we look forward to being a part of it :)  ;D. Nice to meet you all in advance

Welcome....You can find all kinds great info on this site.
And if you can't find what you need just ask.

Thanks!  I?m excited!  I want to remodel the interior a bit since its a 90s style and I?d like to modernize it a bit so I?m really looking forward to that thread :).

Hi and welcome.  There is a message board specifically about remodeling so you can have a look through that and it may prove useful. Look forward to hearing about your changes...

Hi and Welcome.

You will need new tires as a starter, tires more than 6-7 years old are finished despite the new looking treads. Do that before doing anything else as they are unsafe to drive any further than the tire shop. (The manufacture date is stamped into each tire, see here for info on how to read the codes.) http://www.rvforum.net/joomla/index.php/27-maintenance-items/202-tire-manufacturing-date-codes

Hello everyone!  We haven?t done any changes yet.  There is really nothing at all wrong with the interior, its just very dated 90s style haha.  But I will DEF make sure to take before pictures!  Ive been doing lots of looking on Pinterest (while being co-captain of course haha). I have also already found the remodel discussion board which I spent most of my day on yesterday haha.  Love seeing everyone transformations!  <3

Thank you Alpha38User - We have had the tires looked at by 3 specialists to make sure cause we were concerned as well and they said no issues with them at all.  They have even been taken off an inspected.  We had to stop one time on our original trip bringing it home from Cali cause we had a defective valve stem but thats it.  We always make sure to check tires and pressure every time we head out.  :)

Chakara you?re from Rio Rancho to?  What are your favorite places to go that are near us?  We?d like to also try out some local New Mexico spots.  Any thoughts?

Thanks so much everyone for the warm welcome.

We do all kinds of camping - but primarily boondocking.  We like to get away from people and enjoy the mountians.  There are a lot of area's to boondock in the Jemez - 1-2 hours depending on where you go so it's perfect for the weekends.

We also love the state parks.  City of Rocks is a favorite and we usually spend a couple of trips a year at Elephant Butte - camping on the beach.

And longer trips, from cruising up to Yellowstone - or even up into the Colorado Mountains (like you just did in Durango).  As working stiffs these longer trips are WAY to far between!

Chak thank you so much for your reply.  We have heard a lot about Elephant Butte.  We are newer to NM in the last couple years.  We are originally from California in the Santa Cruz Mountains and I grew up in Monterey Ca.  RVing is totally new to me.  We will definitely have to check out some of your recommendations!  Thank you again :)
