Hi, Steve and Sue here.
New to living in the 5th wheel. We've had just about every kind of camper through the years and we're pretty sure we'll enjoy this the best. Had a nice drive out from MI. Looking forward to many warm, sunny days.
Hope everyone has a great day!!

Welcome to the RV forum. Goodluck with your new 5er. Wish I was there with you guys. 15 degrees and snowing here. Glad you're here

Hi Steve and Sue,

Welcome to Quartzsite.  Some of us are at another rally in Indio CA which is west of you about 100 miles or so.  The wind really picked up here today and, being from the east and new to Q, you may not realize the winds can get pretty bad there.  Here's some practical advice.  Never leave the coach with your awnings out and take in lightweight things such as small mats that can blow away.  In one of our very early trips to Q we were in a vendor tent when a huge gust of wind started to take out his tent which was full of solar panels.  Everyone in it grabbed the tent and the solar panels to keep it all from blowing away.  That was our first lesson related to winds in the southwestern deserts.  On the positive side, maybe you'll get to enjoy some wonderful sunsets.  When we get one, all the photographers grab their cameras and start clicking.  Hope you get to see some!

Just in case you haven't researched the forum, one of our larger Rallis will be taking place in Quartzsite later this month.  Even if you don't move to the joint location, you should participate in a few events, particularly a Happy Hour or 2.  That way you will meet a lot of frequent posters.

Yup, I'm in Quartzsite now and today the wind has been fierce. The dust has really made things look hazy. On a positive note, the temp rose a hair above 60 degrees today, but Monday night / Tuesday morning it's supposed to get down to 23!

Thanks everybody. Yeah, the wind really picked up this afternoon. It beats gusting snow, though. Been enjoying ourselves immensely and have met some very nice folks.

Sue what type of camper do you have?

Setting in Phoenix getting piece of siding repaired because of a storm we got caught in a couple weeks ago coming out from IN. Ran up to Quartzsite in car, but will head when adhesive stuff is cured. Ron and Kath

Ok Sue....Next question is what toys are you hauling in the garage?

A Kawasaki Teryx (side-by-side UTV). The XLR's garage area is a nice usable space once the Teryx is out of it.

What's REAL SWEET now is that Steve put solar panels on the roof. Awesome job!
