The cruise problem might not be related to the lever. On my '89 Sportscoach P30 coach I found a broken wire in the harness going to the cruise actuator. Besides, those tiny wires coming from the lever get flexed every time you use the turn signals, and over the years I've changed a few levers because those wires broke internally.
If you mean that the turn signals won't automatically shut off after you've completed the turn, it could be either the switch inside the column, or the cancel cam, which is also inside the column. Once you get the steering wheel off and the column lock plate removed, you ought to be able to see what's broken. The whole project isn't that hard, but it does require several special tools. I'm not sure Auto Zone or O'Reilly's has those tools in their loaner inventory.
