Hello - i am paralyzed in a wheelchair and have an oppourtunity to buy a 32'? 1987 Pace Aerostar class A w/ a 454... I need to know the distance between the rocker panel and the ground with the air bags inflated AND deflated... I dont want to spend the money if it will be too difficult to get into... Pictures with a tape measure would be prefered so i can get a visual idea of any modifications i could do... PLEASE HELP!!! Email any responses to Mike50z at AOL.com

I believe that you meant Pace Arrow. I don't know for sure on that unit but I seem to remember that on my dads (similar) it had 2 folding steps to get in and 2 steps on the inside. It was a pretty high floor.

Changing the inflation on the air bags won't raise or lower the vehicle. The air bags are located inside of coil springs and they help cushion the ride.

You are probably thinking of air bag shocks that we used to put on cars we drag raced to make them look cooler. They actually raise the back up and down. Air bags inside the coils won't raise the vehicle up and down.

Thank you - since the air bags dont adjust the height - can anyone take a picture of the height for me?

They make wheel chair lifts for motorhomes - would that be of interest to you? Example:

Even air suspension coaches that "dump" the air to lower the chassis still end up with 2-3 steps outside and at least two more inside the door. The floor level of a basement-style class A coach is about 35-40" above ground level.

Another concern is the width of the interior aisle. Often less than 30".
