Well since it seems like a good idea I thought I would say hi & introduce myself.
I am John & am getting close to upgrading to a motor home from my current hybrid trailer. I really like my trailer but just not practical with the fact that I bought some quads last year. I was looking at the toyhaulers but not fond of them from a price/window/equipment factor. so I have settled on a motor home to tow a trailer with the quads or flat tow the Jeep.
I am leaning towards a 01 Gulf stream ultra 32' with the 7.4 Chevy. Seems like a real nice layout inside with a nice amount of open space in a small coach. still looking for info on whether this is a problematic brand or not so far seems like it is OK.
any input would be welcome
Thanks
John

Hi John and welcome to our forum. I personally have no experience with Gulf Stream, but hopefully someone here does.

Howdy John and welcome to our RV family!  :D

Take a look at Newmar's new toy hauler motorcoach.  It just came out this year and I saw it at the FMCA Pomona show.  VERY nice marriage of toy hauling and family living.  The ramp actually drops down from the passenger side.  The ramp is at the rear of the coach but is not the rear itself.  It is powered for raising and lowering.  They have several floor plans and I think one of them as a way for some bunks to appear in the toy area.  I have heard this coach is setting toy hauling on its ear.

Thanks for the Hi's & input. I would imagine that the new Newmar would be a real pricey option. I am trying to keep this in the low to mid 30S. I just got back from driving the gulfstream & was quite impressed. The 7.4 seemed OK power wise was able to pull a 6% grade from dead stop & maintain 55mph with no heating up problems (supposed to hit 113 here today) I am going to look around more of course, but am liking this coach real well. Just need to see how much extra money I would be spending getting some upgrades (back up camera, rear ladder, large inverter & aux battery setup & maybe but doubtful leveling jacks.)

Yes the new Newmar is a diesel pusher and up in the high 100s.  I live just a couple blocks or so from Shayne, but traveling on the east coast ATM.  C'mon over to El Mirage and help Shayne and Audrey water our flowers!  ;D

Well thanks for the welcome & all the input. I have spent the last 2 days wandering around the east valley lots & such & am starting to think that the Gulfstream is about the right set up for me. I really like everything about it wish it had more options maybe but can ad most of them pretty easily & know what I am getting. was looking at a 4winds(Sp) by Thor today but eventhough it had a nice slide out in it it's condition & the fact that it's owner had done a bit to much "customizing" to it for me to feel real comfortable about it. I am going to check out the insurance options in the next day or 2 & probably make a final decision.
Thanks
John
