Hi Folks!! We just purchased 2020 Winnebago Spirit 31H class C. Just getting started I was wondering what any of you that would know might recommend for cleaning and maintaining the leatherette furniture any help is so appreciated We have been Rv ing for a long time just nothing like this. had a couple of pull trailers I am Darlene and my husband is Steve Thank you!!!

Whatever you get try it on an unused surface first. Some products for leatherette/vinyl can make them slippery and once applied are very hard to remove. Made that mistake once.

There are dozens of vinyl upholstery cleaning products and auto parts stores or departments are full of them. The mild detergent that Mark suggests is probably as good as any for cleaning but the commercial cleaners usually have a waxy ingredient that leaves a bit of shine (and thus the potential "slippery" that Chef Duane described).

303. It doesn't leave a slippery film. I use it on my motorcycle seat. Last place you want to slide around! Works great on rubber seals, also.
I buy by the gallon.

303 is an excellent UV protectant, but not as necessary on the inside of the rig. We just use good old soap and water. Just a drop of soap in a bucket, dump rag, rinse off with another damp rag. Or just the damp rag by itself unless the grandkids have been in it.

Code word for vinyl. Any mild detergent like a diluted dish soap, or just a damp rag. If you care to contribute more to the economy, you'll find specialized products in any auto parts store or wally world.

thank you Mark

thank you Pam and Kevin, we just want to avoid the cracking that seems to happen with rv furniture. praying the Winnie stuff is better quality

Sadly the furniture coverings cracking isn’t something you can really prevent. It is due to a batch of imitation leather popular in the 2015-2020 ish era where the glue of the vinyl to the backing failed.

The desk chair in my office is peeling. I'd guess it's about 10 years old. Not in a hot/cold vehicle, not subject to any chemicals or harsh environment, save my modest arse. At some point if I don't toss it, all that black vinyl will all flake off and I'll be left with the underlying fabric, which actually isn't bad to look at. I like the fabric better than vinyl.

Welcome to the forums!

Good advise from all the post above.

Word of caution about using something "slippery." Many years ago we had a new vinyl floor put down in our kitchen. I thought I'd be really pro-active and shine the thing up like a brand new car. After mopping, I used Lemon Pledge Spray Furniture Polish on the floor and polished the floor up REAL REAL nice.

Bad mistake! The floor was so slick for months after that, it was a hazard to walk on! Lesson learned.

So, if you do the same with your couch, you just might end up on the floor more than the couch!

Good luck. Welcome! and enjoy that new rig!

All of the inexpensive vinyl Chinese office chairs I've used have been mostly low quality so when one of the cats uses it for mountain climbing practice I don't get too upset. Unfortunately like many products they are ultimately throwaways.
