Holes in bay door gaskets?

I pressed against one of the gaskets at the bottom of the bay door opening while installing a gas feed for my grill and got quite a bit of water. I noticed that all the holes were facing up (or in) which met that the water wouldn't drain out. Is this normal for Winnebago's? Should I drill holes at the bottom of all the bay door gaskets? Thanks for any suggestions!

Hmm.  I never noticed where the holes are on my bay door gaskets but they have never captured water.  Put a little dab of RTV or caulk in the top holes and make a small hole at the bottom so that air can escape when the gasket is compressed.

Actually the holes are there to allow the gasket to be compressed when the door is closed. There are no holes on the bottom of the gasket to keep water from road spray when driving in the rain from entering your bays. I would advise against adding holes to the bottom of the gasket.

I understand your logic, but how would you suggest keeping the water from remaining in the gasket? It would seem that a hole in the bottom might allow water in, but it would also allow it to exit.

If you got quite a bit of water out of one of the gaskets, you may have a tear in one that needs attention.  In most situations, with the air holes in the top of the gasket it would put the air holes inside the bay.  Maybe you have a spot on the gasket that is pulled away from the frame allowing water intrusion into the bay and gasket.
