Years ago while hiking through some woods, I came across a real old car. This jack was in what was left of the trunk, it stands about 12” high. The top piece has an acme thread so you can extend the jack once in place. It has a knob on the side with an elongated hole in the center to accept a handle. When you rotate it, the jack extends.
Anyone recognize it? What car and year did it come in.

It's very similar to a Ford Model A jack, but the base is different. Packard also used a similar style in the mid 30's. Auto Specialties Manufacturing CO made screw jacks with the enclosed upper casting like your example so it could also be an after market jack from that period as well. Sorry I don't have more info, but anxious to find out. Hopefully, someone will know and post the answer.

When I was remodeling my sun porch, I found a jack like this holding up the floor in one spot.
It is a Model T jack and well over 100 years old. Still works and is reversible.
All I did was wire brush the surface rust. It sits on one of my display shelves in the family room.

None of tfw above jacks is close to mine. Mine doesn’t have any external gear.
The center is threaded just like a hydraulic bottle jack we use today.
The piece on the side with the oval hole for a wrench must turn some type of gear inside. Maybe a worm gear.

One thing I'm sure of is that jack is older than I am. I've seen an used a lot of different jacks, but never one like that.

That is it David. Thanks. Now if we can find out the car and year would be great.
The ebay seller says it is "unbranded", which might indicate that it doesn't have any markings. Do you remember anything about the old car in which you found the jack? Approximate time period of the old car?

No I don’t. It was some 30 years ago. I don’t even remember where the car is now.
I think we were camping and I happen to take a walk down a old logging road and found it
