I've been working on the road for several years now and living in my 5th wheel and have come to really appreciate the efficiency this life style requires. Yes I've had some issues with my rig and have almost always found answers to those questions by reading forums like this, until now. Currently my "Dometic" thermostat is giving me grief. Occasionally I'll come home and find that the furnace has not been working, and the green and red lights blinking on the wall unit. I read that disconnecting the batteries and killing shore power resets it. I tied that and it works - great! But I'd like to be able to decipher what the blinking lights indicate. I've checked online but the only part number "IRO101" on the remotes back near the battery access door, yields no joy when searching on line. (I have no manuals for the thermostat--obviously.)  I was hoping that one of you veterans might know what or where the answer is.  Any ideas?

You lured me with "Thang" in your Subject line.  Are you a Texan?  ;D  At least your Grammar and spelling is correct.

Well, IP also, but can not provide the words you are looking for.  We have PN, and the Brotherhood of RVn in common.

As for me I just spam the board with question after question.  I don't have very many answers.  We are 7 Months into our Adventure of our life, so pretty green behind our ears.

I do see that this is your first Post here.  Welcome.  This place has $aved us $ome $$ for sure!

We are lucky enough to be graced by the presence of some Heavy Hitters around here.  Hammering Hank Aaron, Ruth, Gehrig, real RVing Legends and All stars galore.

This place is a great place to hang out and just get smarter while BSN around, I think they set the hook in me.  I keep coming back.

I will bet somebody has either, Been There done that (They might let your borrow their "T-shirt they Got?) or somebody here has a idea that will spark the thought in you and lead you to the cause of the failure.

We have some Lectric Whizzs around here.

All I can give on your current dilemma is Moral Support.

Have a Great Day, Brother.

and the green and red lights blinking on the wall unit.
the only part number "IRO101" on the remotes back near the battery access door,
I'm not clear on what "wall unit" and "remotes" you are referring to.  Can you elaborate on these items a bit more? Maybe supply a photo of each as well?

Does the thermostat look like any of these?

Call 1 800-544-4881 and speak directly to tech support. Give them the information on your current unit and thermostat. Depending on the age of the unit they may even send you  a new thermostat if that's what they come up with.  I just dealt with an issue with my unit and spoke to their representative at the Tampa show and they helped me directly.

Welcome to the forum, feel free to stick around after you get your solution, it's a good bunch of people hanging out here!

Can you change out a Dometic thermostat with a standard house thermostat? My A/C will not shut off when set temp has been reached.

Some house-type thermostats will work ok with RV power (which is 12v, not the 16-24v used in most house systems). Some of it depends on the existing thermostat, e.g. analog vs digital, furnace only or furnace & a/c or heat pump. And single vs multi-zone. Tell us more about what thermostat you have and what it needs to control.
