Hi, new to the site as of today.

I am looking for someone in the Weirs Beach, NH area to help me align my Directv dish. If anyone is in the area and would like to visit and give us a hand, I will be glad to compensate you for you help.

I am writing in here as we were full time rv'ers once, I would drag out my standalone dish and set it up as my rooftop dish was more times than not a tree finder. I am not in the area at the moment, or I would align dish now. Someone needs your help and I am here asking for them.

Thanks in advance,

Jim Jobin

Hi Jim and welcome to the forum. You confused me a little. Is this for you or for someone else?  And then you say you are not in the area now.  ::)
I'm only about 40 miles away and if I knew what to do, I'd gladly help but my dish is permanently mounted on my hose roof and was done by a technician.

To align my portable DirecTV Slimline-5 dish first I used an app called Satellite AR to locate the the satellites in the sky to see if I have a clear view.  Then I use an all called Dispointer, where you put in your location, and it provides the azimuth, elevation, and skew.  I set the elevation, and skew, then put the dish on a leveled tripod and aim it at the approximate azimuth, I then monitor the signal strength one the tv, and once I maximize the signal of the azimuth, I then may have to tweek the elevation.  This usually takes about 10 minutes from start to finish, however, it has taken me up to 30 minutes sometimes.

I hope this helps.
