I solved my remote control problem

It would have been in 1969 when my DW and I purchased our 1st new TV. One of the options was this thing called a remote. We didn’t have much money so we opted not to get one. I said it was a waste of money. Where would we be today not having a remote. Think about it. Having to get up each time to change the channel. 📺👎

Just think of all the crazy things that didn't make sense when they first came out. Like who in the world would pay money for bottled water? Or that everybody would carry a phone with them 24/7? Or watch TV on their phone? Crazier than Dick Tracy wearing a radio on his wrist.

My kid just got a new smart watch of some kind that actually has Garmin navigation on it. Would be almost useless to me, I couldn't hardly see the map.

The first remote I used was in the 60s on a TV. It was ultrasonic I think. You could change channels on the TV by jingling a set of car keys.

I had that same conversation when I got my first smart phone. It was slightly smaller than other phones and I said having a slightly larger screen wouldn't matter because I'd still have to put on my reading glasses to use it. And the smaller phone fit better in my pocket.

Exactly. Which is why I prefer the iPhone SE models. Although the latest SE has grown to the same size as the 7. I know because my Otter iPhone 7 case fits the SE perfectly. But I miss the days when the smaller the phone the more it cost. They got down to about half the size of a pack of cigarettes. Now the most expensive are "phablets", halfway between a phone and a tablet in size.

Most GPSs have voice navigation available.
Still have to be able to see the map to plan a route.
I like having a separate GPS in the RV, but I will use Google maps on my phone if I want to deviate from my planned trip. Say I get somewhere and want to find a Mexican restaurant. Google maps gets me there and the Garmin stand alone in the RV will pick the route back up from there.
I have trouble hearing the voice navigation over the music when I travel. I'm sure you, of all people, can understand that.
