Where do you see this "Thread Summary"? I still see "Idiot Drivers" as the thread title.
Thank you! I had not noticed those polling questions before. I just gave the title change a thumbs down and submitted my comments. Let's see what, if any, reaction/reply it gets. I don't mind the summary - it's easy enough to skip over - but when I search for a thread I created and can't find it since the title has changed, it's aggravating.

Agree. I don't like to be followed while on the 2 land roads. Whenever a vehicle is behind me, I'll pull over and slow. I want to be sure they can pass safely. Even on the Interstates when necessary, I'll pull way over and slow. Example on I-80 when several trucks with over-width trailers going faster than my struggling gasser, I'd move way over. Both times, the truck was pulling something that was easily 12 feet wide. I was using the shoulder as much as possible and the truck made it around. Another time I pulled into a truck parking area and let them go. Oddly enough one of the trucks I let pass pulled over for some reason and eventually caught up and passed me again.

Same here. Just yesterday headed back home on a rural 2 lane going around the speed limit, a pickup came up fast behind me. When I came to about the only place he could pass safely I turned on the blinker, slowed down, pulled to the right and let him pass.

I know my computer science background affects my opinion of AI. Most of my career was in safety-of-life critical systems and serious DoD security systems. Failure really wasn’t an option, so we were all so very careful with analysis, design, development, and test. There is a reason these types of systems are expensive, because if they fail humans die. The way AIs can just randomly hallucinate false information without any notice is just way outside my comfort levels! People who worked on products without those limitations probably feel more comfortable. Heck, I would feel more comfortable if the AI just said “I’m totally operating without guardrails right now, so ignore me!” But AIs do not fail safely, they just fail without notice, and to my mind that is why they are unacceptable for anything beyond simple things, things that don’t matter.
Same. And one of the biggest threats to operating safely was usually some in-charge who thought the best thing to do was integrate 3 or 4 different systems monitoring equipment into 1 screen that 1 grunt could oversee with no idea what he's looking at.
Sounds like you're talking about the new and improved Campendium app. I'm convinced it was updated by non-rving types.
But artificial intelligence, as I expect you know, is so much more than just typing a prompt into a chatbot, or messing up a perfectly good forum application. It's put to use in virtually all aspects of life these days-- whether we're aware of it or not.
