Now that one catastrophe has been eliminated with this Forums help (couldn't get the screw out of the shower handle) I'm going to try maybe avoiding another one, like not being able to open the entry door.  Has anyone removed the inside cover plate for the door latch on a Meridian or Journey?  It looks like the only thing holding it in place is 3 torq screws after removing the lock knobs (assuming both will just pull off) but am wondering about the inside handle itself.  Does it have to be removed before the plate can be taken off or does that handle just come off with the plate?  I don't see any fasteners visible that would be holding the handle on.

I can't even imagine what it would be like owning an RV without the help of a Forum like this one (even though I did for 15 years but that was back when things were built better and not as complicated as these DPs).  I've lost track of the number of times I've had to hollar for help, and you sure don't get any help by talking to a dealer.

Wayne, I haven't yet had the pleasure in removing mine but it is on the way. I'm starting to have lock problems so I know it's something I'm going to be looking into to. don't know if you have the book but if not go to this link: http://www.winnebagoind.com/service/wincd/2004/4ikp36g.pdf
then go to page 185 under "Exterior Doors, Entry" and you will see a pretty good breakdown. Good place to start I guess unless someone else comes along that has been down this road. Good luck.
