on my Bounder I only have the propane to heat water with and I'd like to install electric calrod unit, I think that's to call it, on the tank.  Is this difficult to do?  And will I be thankful I did it ?

Welcome to the RV Forum.  I moved your question to this section where hopefully you will get more responses to your question.

I had considered doing the same thing when we had our 93 Bounder and was planning on doing it but then we bought the American Eagle before I got the task done.  I don't recall it was going to be too difficult but I can't remember the details now.  I think Camping World has a kit.

Both Atwood and Suburban recommend against it but maybe they are just trying to sell new heaters.
