Inverter Gennys

From the "Onan Carbs" thread in General RV Discussions.

I cannot find this cable anywhere that has it in stock. I am wondering if it was discontinued for some reason.

But I don't see why I cannot make my own--can't be that complicated- But I would rather just buy it if I can find it somewhere.

This could cause me to look for a different make of inverter genny. But not here in CA, very few of them are CA-legal. Most are 49-state gennies.

I was a bit confused there from looking at too many inverter gennys.

The GM4600iAEFIC is a GenMax, not a Champion.

And I found the 240 VAC cable at WallyMart and just now ordered it for a hundred bucks. I don't want to wait until it is unavailable everywhere.

I will order the two inverter gennys when I am back in Reno since it is not CARB compliant and there is no hurry.

$1,100.00 for the above Genny.

This doesn't mean I will not fix my Onan and see how it works.

So for now, I ordered the GM6000SPK 240 VAC cable, and will order the two
GENMAX GM4600iAEFIC 4600 Watt Electric Fuel Injection Inverter Generator when I am back in Reno.

20" tall. 20" deep, 13" wide. 58.4 lbs each. Max starting wattage:9,200. Continuous:7,600 watts with two running.

$2,300.00 total, plus the taxes and whatever small change. A lot cheaper and lighter and easier to deal with than the Onan, but so far I am only into it for a hundred bucks. I figure I can buy the gennys any time, the 240 VAC cable was what I was most concerned with.

When I have them all running, I will charge one of my motorcycles at 6.6 KW for a few minutes and I will report back here how it works at 5K' elevation at my house in Reno. I may later also test them at 7,400' at Donner Summit.

My Genmax 7250 had the applicable RV plugs I needed already onboard and the one in the pic looks like it does as well.

Yes, with two of them there will be three RV-30s and one 14-50R when the 240 VAC parallel cable is used.

Good prices and i always got free shipping. Not sure if this is the exact model you want but i think they have that one listed at $999.99. Dont know if they offer free shipping on the one you want
The one I want is this one. The "free shipping" cost a hundred bucks more each from Northern Tool.

Exactly what I want is two EFI Inverter generators, that can do a continuous 3KW each for a total of 6KW and be able to do 240 VAC with a parallel kit. The 4600 is just a little larger than perfect, 3.8 KW each for a total of a continuous 7.6 KW. But I would prefer just a little smaller and lighter, if possible, at the cost of the reduced wattage. But I don't think anybody makes EFI gennys at 3KW each that can do 240 VAC with the parallel kit. The GM4600iAEFIC is as close to what I want as I can find.

I wonder if there is a store where I can look at it, or if it is only available online.

I cannot say I am surprised by this. I was hoping they had it in their stock, but obviously all the do is drop ship such items.

This means I do not buy the gennies until I can get the cable.

Perhaps I can make my own if I can figure out what wires keep the two gennies in sync., but I would rather just buy the thing.

It certainly looks like what you need.
  • Parallel-Plus Ultra-voltage: Two 120v generators are combined into a 240V generator using a dedicated series parallel box (the series parallel box is sold separately).
  • Wattage: 4600 Watts

Wattage: 4600 Watts
Will be 9,200 watts with two of them running. Same current but double the voltage. Or same voltage and double the total current capacity. Has both outlets, 120 VAC and 240 VAC. Separate outlets must be used for the 9,200 watts total @ 120 VAC since none of them are rated at 76.666 amps.

And can be half the weight and size when only 120 VAC is needed.

I want the 240 VAC just in case I ever need to charge one of my electric motorcycles with them. Will charge much four times faster than with 120 VAC.

For the person who ask about the Northern Tools generator.
They DO have sticks and bricks.. Do not know where you are or where they are save for one store near Detroit.... If it is still there.

It was me who asked, and while I am in CA, it is a waste of time to look at new gennys anywhere within this state. The problem is, by far, most gennys are NOT CARB (CA Air Resources Board) compliant.

For an example, I was in HFT here in Auburn today (and I got my free HFT bucket!--and the free bucket only cost me around $85.00 this time!). They have two genny types for sale. If I go to any HFT near Reno, they have more genny models than I can count--all in stock, all types--except for what I want! EFI & 240 VAC between two inverter gennies.

No CARB BS to put up with in NV.

I cannot find a Northern Tool Store Locator.

However, there are authorized dealers for Northen Tool in Sparks, NV (boarders with Reno) such as:

Sparks Branch #639

900 Packer Way
Sparks, NV 89431
1-800-GRAINGER (1-800-472-4643)

But I doubt if they have any gennys in stock, but I can check in a week or so, or whenever I decide to head back to ice cold Reno (it is always warmer here this time of year).

Anyway, there is no hurry. But I would have ordered a couple of those GM4600iAEFIC as soon as I had my hands on that 240 VAC parallel cable which I tried to ship to my Reno address. I was going to leave for Reno before it got there. Now I have no reason to head back to Reno.

Ah yes but CA is a tall, Skinny state. There are other states just a short distance away.
Yes, and I also live in one of those states. BTW, it's 200 miles to drive across CA. Around 85 miles to get to NV from here, which is as short as possible by road to get to another state.

And it's probably against CA state law to buy a genny in another state and bring it into CA. CA usually has laws on that type of thing. There are countless things that are not allowed to be sold in in CA that are allowed in other states. CA is not only the "Golden State" is is also the greenest state as well as the most populated.

-Don- Auburn, CA

If you own a generator and move to ca are you allowed to bring that in?
Yes, AFAIK.

But not a non-CA compliant AR15/AK-47 & etc. You will have to get rid of such before moving here. I think so-called "assault weapons" is the only thing you may not move into CA with--at least not until it gets to the SCOTUS.

Dont have a problem with that. Always hated the term assault rifle cause it doesnt really mean anything. I think they should do something similar to antique weapons. If it was originally designed for the military and the design is less than x number of years old it should be controlled.

I own guns and understand why people want them but i dont see any need for anyone to own an ar15. If theycare allowed might as well go all out and let people get n16s. They are pretty much identical and you can almost legally make an ar15 act just like an m16

need for anyone to own an ar15.
I was afraid my statement would cause some serious thread drift.:)

If I got rid of everything I don't "need", there goes more than 95% of what I own.

I don't "need" 11 motorcycles. Or two motorhomes, etc., etc. I could get by fine without any of that stuff.

It would be a lot less work lol. I can barely use the jeep and the truck enough to avoid problems. Cant imagine how you maintain all the stuff you got
