We arrived at the campground and when we turned off the inverter the fidge shut off too, inverter on fridge on. Inverter off fridge off.
Prior to this we would have to reset the gfi on the inverter to get power to the fridge after we unplugged from the pedestal. Not sure if they are related but want to provide as much info as I can .
I unplugged the fridge and ran it to another outlet and it is on.
So....where do I begin to troubleshoot this issue?

Thanks!

Make and model of inverter? Does it have a built in transfer switch? is there a breaker tripped on your main breaker box? Does air conditioner work (Fan mode is all you need to test)

Fridge, Residential or RNV Absorption type?

They are separate. There is AC power going to the transfer switch, just not coming back out. Everything from the inverter to the transfer switch to the fridge recept works correctly.
It's a Magnum CSW1012 inverter
It only powers the fridge

You have 120v from the breaker panel to the transfer switch, and 120v from the inverter to the transfer switch (when inverter is on). If that's the case, then the transfer switch isn't transferring. It is stuck in the inverter position.

it's an automatic transfer (switches on its on if shore power is present), so the only practical repair is new one. That model switch (Magnum CSW-TS15) is widely available from online sources. Google will find them for you.

I agree it needs to be replaced, unfortunately it will have to wait until June when we get to a spot we will be at long enough to get a package. I'll time the delivery so it will arrive a day,or two after our arrival.
Appreciate all the help.

Just leave the inverter on if power from it is getting to the fridge. There's nothing wrong with running the inverter full time, when you're plugged into power the converter will replace the power the inverter draws from the batteries.

It works on the 12v side. I ran an extension cord from the fire place recept to the fridge. When we travel I will plug the fridge back into its dedicated recept and run it off the inverter.

What refrigerator do you have? Sounds like it could also run on propane.
It's a compressor based refrigerator. A propane capable absorption refrigerator wouldn't need an inverter to run it.

All of them that I have had could also be operated on 120V. Even so, it might help to know for sure what he has as we aren't all experts.

What made me wonder was the mention of 12V and knowing that the absorption refrigerators need 12V for the control system. Prior to that I had been assuming that it was a residential, but I've been bitten by assuming too many times. For what it's worth (which isn't much), I would suspect that Gary has the right answer.
