Is a headache rack a headache?

I just bought a good old truck with a headache rack. I want to put a camper on the truck. Can I leave the rack on and secure the camper to the rails that run along the sides of the box? Thanks everybody, Sonny

No not at all headache racks are not a secure place to tie a camper to. Remove the rack and the rails before puttimg the camper on

The camper won't fit with the rack on. They're designed to closely match the pickup box dimensions.

That actually is not a headache rack, even though the trucker wannabes call it that; it is a protective barrier for the rear window. Many rear windows have been broken when loading stove wood.

Its still a headache rack just a slightly different design

steve a headache rack got it's name from how it prevents items on a flat-bed trailer and/or tools and binding chains stored on the back of the cab from coming through the rear window and hitting the driver. It is normally bolted to the bed of the semi-tractor.
