Is a washer/dryer really used much?

We have found laundries even in small towns and often they're better. I like the fact I can do the laundry in a few hours and that's it over for another week or so.

We're all different though. 😁

Something I got permission to use here in my apartment is a small "Twin tub" washer/Spin dryer... Not sure it will fit in an RV but there are "Single tub" versions of same. The one I have is Similar to this one (not the same make and model but both operationally and size wise the same)

It fits in my bathtub. Would it fit in an RV shower??? Don't know
The single tub versions of it should.

To Fill: I use the wand shower hose (I could use the want head but I added a quick connect to hook to the QC modified inlet on the machine fills faster is all) to Drain (it uses a gravity drain) .. well it's sitting in a bath tub Duh.

To finish the dry.. You know how My lady dries her delicates.. (Shower rod) Well I have 4 rods two Bungee cords strung between special "no hole" mounts I made (It's an apartment I do not own the walls) and one added torsion shower rod to help the two 1x6 planks "Stick" to the wall. Works well. Clean cloths ready Holds one full change of clothing or One Queen bed sheet or a couple of bath (not sure how many) towels. The Apartment Laundry is too far for me to walk and no way to drive to it.. Also no table or chair.. I do "Major" laundry at ye old coin op down the road where they have carts. Tables. Chairs and, depending on which one I visit. Coffee.

Coin laundry is a great option. Been to many across the country. It makes things alot easier but it depends on the flow of dirty cloths and personal needs and wants. I can go over a week and its nice to not have that constant laundry hanging over my head daily if not, every other day. Rarely does it ever take more than 2 hours at coin laundry and you can wash everything. Blankets, comforters, sheets, the dog :) etc. All in the same 2 hours or less. Dry and folded ready for another week. If you ever fall behind using RV systems, you will be headed to the coin laundry. I have met lots of good people in laundromats. Some of the best locations have been in grocery store plazas with subway, dunkin donuts, restaurants etc. Get the food shopping done, coffee, and laundry ! Its a little different than being in the RV running that laundry almost everyday but its a great feeling when you pack all your cloths up and head back to the RV. Make the beds, put away all the cloths and its done. While traveling, the big plaza stops are wonderful. You can park in the parking area and roam around a bit and go shopping.

I do have one negative option to coin laundry. Most (and I mean most like 90%) truck stops have lousy no maintenance and poorly set up equipment. Be careful with that stuff.

I myself, would find a dishwasher more useful in a RV than a washer/dryer. That is unless you exclusively use disposable plates and cutlery, but we don’t, we have silverware, Fiesta bowls, and plates, coffee mugs, etc.

If you have any question about it's convenience, go camping with a roll of quarters and each time your DW needs a load of wash done/dried she should hand them to you... ! LOL

Seriously, we love the convenience, no worry about "hogging" a machine or "having" to get back to grab a dryer as soon as the load is done. Etc.
Now that we have the Splindide stack units, it as become another " must have " if we ever do another rv purchase. It's just simply conveint. It does take awhile to wash & dry so you can put a load on and go enjoy the what ever.
We keep our rv ready to go. We have rv clothes , non perishable foods, etc and the fridge allways on. We actually reduced how many clothes we keep in the rv.

We have been full time for about 9 years, and use our washer and dryer exclusively. We never go to a laundry. We have a stackable GE washer and dryer, and they take care of all our laundry needs no matter where we roam. We just make sure to stay at places that have adequate water and sewer hookups.

We have one and never use anything else. For fulltiming it is on our must have list. They are small and slow and another thing to winterize if you arent full timing but i dislike laundromats and paid laundries with a passion so those are simply not an option for us

We boondocked extensively. Composting toilet, huge solar setup, could run our acs overnight on the battery bank, and our rv had small holding tanks but we still used our on board laundry occasionally when boondocking. We could get 2 loads done and still boondock for 2 weeks by carrying extra water in the tow vehicle.

Our rv had residential appliances and we never had problems from using them or residential furniture in the rv. The laundry was splendide but i was always tempted to replace it with a residential stacked unit to get more capacity and less water usage. Never did it but i dont see why you cant as long as you can secure it properly

Everybody is different so it depends on what you care about. I would rather hand wash dishes in the rv than do laundry in a laundromat so we prefer a laundry over a dishwasher.

Splendide makes a stack set washer + dryer as well as their combo unit.
We have the stack set. I was looking at replacing it with the combo unit but feedback from people who had them made me think they were smaller and slower than the separate units. Mostly the dryer. We love our stacked unit but it isn't very large and it isn't very fast. I misspoke when I said earlier we never use anything else. When we gotta wash a comforter we gotta find another alternative. A lot of the campground laundries have trouble with that too in our experience.

We were full timers in the summer and part timers in the winter for almost 10 years. We had the Splendide combo unit. We liked it because we could put a load in then go off touristing. When we got back it was done. Can't remember ever using a laundromat.

One caution!! If you get the Splendide combo unit, make sure it is a VENTED model. They make both a vented and unvented model. The unvented drying cycle is really, really SLOOOOW. In fact make sure that any dryer you get is vented.

I think if we had a stacking washer & dryer we'd use it more often.

Our splendide takes a very long time and does a barely adequate job. Plus the loads must be quite small.

We’ve discussed and venting required requires a hole. And we lose that storage space. And they are expensive.

As 2-4 month snowbirds, most everywhere we stay has a laundromat right in the campground (pretty close too) and it’s just too easy to knock it all out in two hours once every week or two. To date in the campground I’ve never had to sit and watch it. Lol

Tara found that the unit Splendide worked very well for us. It washed well and the fact that it both washed and dried in a continuous cycle reduced each washing cycle from hours in the laundromat to about five minutes loading and emptying the washer at our convenience.
SHE LOVED IT,
Regards,
Ernie
