I don't know who is in the NW corner of Florida or kinda close, but on the beach from Gulf Shores Alabama to Panama City Florida, the Pompano are about to turn on and the gulf will give up some of the best eating fish out there. There are multiple campgrounds in that distance of beach, my favorite is Fort Pickens where the surf fishing in fantastic and the bay side is no slouch. No boat requied. And so is Johnson Beach on the other side of the Pensacola Pass. Both beautiful pristine beach environments, no condos, no nothing but you and the beach. Other fish mixed in but those Pompano are about the best eating gulf fish after flounder.
It's easy fishing and relaxing on a couple of the most beautiful beaches in America...

Thanks for sharing Benny.

We got FL on the TO GO list.

We are not fisherpeople, but I could sure see myself standing where that Pole is with a Cold Beer in my hand with my arm around my 4 Star General, looking out to the Deep Water.

Fort Pickens and Johnson Beach are both part of Gulf Islands National Seashore division of Federal Parks. The entrance fee per vehicle is $18 and that keeps a lot of tourist away. However, an annual pass for seniors in only $20! Pay once and it's yours. Also another tip which I probably shouldn't say but will do so anyway, the gates on both of them open at 5:00 A.M. automatically, but the attendants do not show up until 7:30 to 8:00. If you get there before they show up, you don't have to pay. I've been fishing there three years now and nobody has ever questioned this.

We are at Topsail Hill Preserve SP and some of the other volunteers are going out fishing this week. Last year we ate many a Pompano and really enjoyed them.
