Joshua Tree NP Campgrounds and Hikes for a 30 Foot Travel Trailer

We are thinking of adding Johua tree NP to.our adventures this winter. Never been. Looks like lots of hiking! we have 30' TT, what campground do you suggest? Thanks!

Belle has nice big sites. That’s where we have stayed. It is inside the park so no hookups.

For a nice hike, Lost Palm Oasis. It's an all-day hike, but a great one.

Look for the large Chuckwalla Lizards on the large rocks. There are many there. Very large harmless vegetarian lizards.

what campground do you suggest?

The park is quite large and has a lot of interesting things to see. We were campground hosts at Black Rock a long time ago and we really enjoyed our time there. We were there for 3 months in the winter. Check out the campgrounds here. We did a lot of hiking there and I think that my favorite hike was Forty-nine Palms Oasis hike. We used to stay at Cottonwood each Easter break. Nice area. Basic .It wasnt unusual to get snowed on then.

It wasn't anything special. A large, sandy area with full hookup sites marked off. Lots of room to maneuver large rigs. Felt safe and confident while there. Located near to the Visitor Center of the park. Lots of nearby amenities.

Joshua Tree is inspiring. Be sure to visit it from about 3 PM to dusk when the sun "carves" the rock formations.

Have you been down to the Walking Box Ranch area south of Boulder City? Loads of Joshua Trees there... And hikes near Castle Mountain a bit further on.

Jackie is right that you should add Walking Box Ranch to the itinerary if you can. Lots of Joshua trees plus a really cool piece of history.

We haven't been to the ranch itself as they only do tours so many times a year.

We liked Pine City. The hike in was meh, but Pine City itself was fun to explore. Basically a large network of boulders with pinyon pines. You can continue the trail past Pine City to an overlook.
