I finally had the opportunity to visit Mammoth Lakes, CA this past Wednesday for the first time in the winter and it was so beautiful with the snow covered ground. We had to travel there to play the Mammoth Lady Huskies in high school basketball. The drive took three hours to get there during the afternoon and the roads were clear with some cloud cover when we arrived. After we finished our game we stayed to watch the boys game then someone told us it was snowing heavy outside so we walked out and noticed it had already dropped nearly 2 inches since the last time we were outside. We decided to leave the boys game early to head on down the mountain so we wouldn't be stuck overnight. We stopped in Bishop on the way back to eat dinner but the drive coming back down the mountain took a quite a bit longer than the trip going up from Bishop earlier in the day due to the snow. Our girls enjoyed the trip with a convincing victory and some fun time in the snow.

We love camping at Mammoth in the summer, it so beautiful and there are so many great places to hike and ride bikes and the bus transportation makes it really easy to get around. I thought it was even more beautiful with the snow. Our basketball team will be traveling through there again in two weeks for another game in Lee Vining about another thirty minute drive north of Mammoth.

I love the Mommoth area. When I was younger, some friends and I would backpack the area a lot. I loved packing past convict lake and climb Mount McKinley. Love the good ole days. Thank you for the pictures!

I believe you are in the wrong state for Mt McKinley. I believe you are referring to Mt Whitney?  Mt McKinley is in Alaska?
