On July 31, 2017 I became a member of the Bionic man / woman's club with a total knee replacement of my right knee. It's hard to imagine that was 8 years ago, seems like it was just yesterday. My knee is 100% fine now, by the way.

My wife has been having some serious back issues for years now. The last round of injections did not last very long and now she is facing a joint fusion procedure with some kind of rod that looks like a torture device from the days of the Inquisition!

My son had a motorcycle wreck some 20 years ago which resulted in him having a plate put in his wrist to hold smashed bones together. That plate will forever be a part of him now.

My mother (at age 90) feel and ended up having a metal rod implanted on the inside of her leg bone.

My mother-in-law and father-in-law both had pace makers.
My sister has fused bolts in her back also.
My dad had false teeth as did my mother.

Now, I've had more body parts "removed" from my body than were added to it, like wisdom teeth, my appendix, things like that. I've had broken bones, and surgeries of different types. But, my artificial knee is he only part that is not "native" born in me.... well ... maybe some of those self-dissolving sutures may still be floating around.

So, with my wife's Doctor visit today, talking about the "implant" for the fusion in her back, it got me to thinking ...

How many others on these forums are walking around today with artificial body parts inside you?

So, how about you? Anyone else "dare" to share if "YOU" are not totally the original "YOU" you were born with? What part? (If you dare to share?)

No none original parts here other than dental work, though I did have a bit of replumbing done in 2011, complicated gallbladder surgery (Bile duct stricture, with Gallstones, and infection that had eroded into the Liver) where they removed the Gallbladder as well as the bile duct, and the sphincter of Odi used a section of small intestine reconstruct things.

No extra parts for me 'cept a few fillings and a partial tooth that I remove for the night. Never have spent a night in the hospital... 'cept with a loved one.
Oh, do the millions of little 'bots that were injected into me during COVID count?? They have not amassed (to my knowledge) into some brain-controlling 'puter as of yet. :)

New hip for me 4 years ago caused by too many years of football and running. Suffered with pain for a year and the socket was bone on bone. Now pain free and I'm still able to bike and hike, but my running days are over. Wouldn't hardly know it was there except for the scar.

I have 2 bionic knees. Had one done about 10 years ago and one about 6 years ago. Also have some screws and pins in my right ankle. Old college football injuries and just wear and tear over the years. A chef spends most of a 10-12 hour day on his feet. But with my new knees I can run 30 mph and jump 20 feet in the air!!

Talk about a bionic woman, that’s my wife. 4 years ago it all started.
She had a torn rotator cuff.
She had to have L4 and L5 fused.
Then she had a torn meniscus that had to be repaired
Then she had her Spinal Cord Simulator put in her lower back.
Then she had the watchman put in her heart.
Then a year ago, she had her left knee replaced.
This past May it was her right knee that had to get done.
3 weeks ago, it was carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel on her right arm.
In two weeks, the left arm is being done.
She is now having a problem with her right hip. Hopefully it’s just a matter of a strengthening problem. Her PT Tech is working on that.
Hope this is it

A number of screws and pins in my right shoulder, and a bullet next to my upper spine that's been encapsulated in an epoxy material to immobilize it. The docs said it's too risky to remove it. Other than that, just full dentures and lens implants in my eyes after cataract removal.

Other than a tooth implant and some fillings, you can add me to the pacemaker club. Didn't think anything was wrong, but it turns out the reason I kept passing out or coming close was the malfunctioning ticker. Got it done on Valentines day of 2020, right ahead of the Covid crap. Told my wife her Valentine's day gift was me! Other than my second set of eyes (that I still can't see well through), it's all good.

Both knees replaced. Can’t pedal a bike or squat enough to get into a kayak. Three herniated discs in my neck. Chondro sarcoma in left thumb.
Wife had a knee and hip done. Spinal stenosis surgery and a triple A repaired. Broke ankle with a plate and screws.

Quadruple bypass 35 years ago, followed by 5 stents over the years. 2 cataracts removed.
Wife has pacemaker, 5 hip replacements and 2 cataracts removed.
She keeps wearing out hip sockets

Three and a half pounds of Titanium after two major back rebuilds. Had the surgeries in 2001 and after a short two year stint as a walking weather sensor everything has been pretty good. Walk thru metal detectors do not pick it up but wands do.

I use hearing aids. have had some spinal disc (L5) reconstruction, and two heart arteries replaced, but no artificial parts. My late wife had some, though. Fused C3-C4, a torn rotor cuff reattached with screws, and a bone cancer drilled out and replaced with bone cement. All worked remarkably well.
