Casino camping FYI
We wanted to break up our drive from suburban Detroit to the middle of Michigan's upper peninsula. We stayed at Kewadin Casino outside of St Ignace, just across "the" bridge from Mackinaw city.

You just show up like most, and park first. If you want free, park in the middle of the big gravel RV lot. If you want water, electric and a fire pit, pick a site on the outside of the lot- $15. Then go into the casino and tell them you're there and where you're at and pay if you got a site.

Sites are ok, not scenic but everything works and its patrolled. It was cold and windy so we went into the casino and sat by the fireplace and had a drink and met people to talk to (we're not gamblers). There are also frequent free shuttles to St Ignace... Probably intended to bring people there but they don't care.

Thanks Paul. This is very helpful info since Eric and I are definitely planning on going to the UP next year. We plan to meet up with you. We'll be in touch.

The Kewadin Casino at Sault st. Marie is about $20 for electric, on grass, but the washrooms also had free washing machine and drier.

We like staying at Tee Pee campground just south of the bridge. We were there last weekend. Mackinaw City does fireworks every Friday and we watched them from our site. Small campground with just water and elect hookups.

Well if you come south on I-75... I'm just east of Davison (Alas no RV parking at these apartments) drop me a PM and I'm sure we can find a diner to dine at.. There are some good ones both family and "Date night" quality in the neighborhood. A few have lots and lots of parking.

Stayed at the Kewadin Casino in St. Ignace Mi a few weeks ago. It is a nice spot with water, electric (30 and 50 amp), fire pit and picnic table. My only complaint would be to plant a few trees in the area and tone down the security lights. Needed blackout shades for the bedroom.

Sounds like a smart, low-stress way to mix travel with a little local flavor.
