Good morning everyone,

Since this question is asked alot here are my results

I have a Octane SL 272 that has 2 15k BTU AC units in it. I've installed a Mcro Air easy start on the Main AC unit for the trailer.

With my generator running on Economy Mode I can use the main AC unit and the generator doesn't kick out of econo mode. I can also while the main AC is running turn the fan on high on the AC unit in the bedroom and the generator stays in econo mode.

I've ordered a 2nd Micro air for the AC unit in the bedroom(I didnt know it had an AC unit in there before) and I will see what this little genny can do. Im thinking it will handle both running the AC with Econo mode turned off.

The most efficient AC I have seen draws 10A while running, which calculates to 1200W. I think 2 units will trip the breaker on the generator even without any optional accessories such as charging the batteries or lights.

I think you will end up either not using the 2nd AC or getting a 2nd generator.

Tossed my fluke clamp on and with just the main running it was only pulling 7amps cooling the trailer from 29'C to 18'C

EDIT:

I should mention it was never my intention to run both at the same time mostly because according to the build sheet I only had one ac and it was prepped for a 2nd but when I did my walk through I was pleasantly surprised to see a 2nd unit.

That sounds really low. What model is your AC unit?

Also, where did you clamp it? I assume that you isolated the hot wire for the clamp instead of putting it on over the main power cable outside.

Its a Coleman Mach 15

The clamp was on L1 with all other breakers off. Also confirmed with using my 2000w inverter and it showed 7.3 amps on running. The start up inrush was only 13 amps as captured by my Fluke 381

I agree that it seems low i was expecting in the 9-11 range but it is what it is.

Yeah, that seems odd. Even Coleman rated it at 14.8A.

Compressor amp draw depends on ambient temperature, did you by chance test it on a cooler day?

It's was around 25'C but nice and sunny (solar panels were rocking as well)

And my location is 645 m (2,116 ft) above sea level.

I should add this is a brand new trailer, I picked it up only 4 days before I installed the Easy start

Yeah that a baseline from their factory QC department. A lot of external factors will change how things operate

I would suggest checking it again when you get in 35 - 40 C (95-105F) conditions.

Yeah I'm sure that's going to make a difference but for me to get to those temps for any prolonged time gonna take me about 3000 miles

Schwyl, where appx are you from? Even Minnesota has been in the 90s all week. I wouldn't be surprised if it reached 120 inside, while sitting in the sun. Right now, my rig is parked in the shade, so it isn't so bad, but you don't always get to choose which site you get to stay at.

I'm up in alberta, Edmonton area to be precise. The next 2 weeks were only look at daytime highs of 20-23.

My place in Mesa is probably in to 110s right now.

I assume that's 20-23C? The mornings are usually in the 70s here, but by 9am, its already in the mid to high 80s..Fahrenheit, that is.

Before you say it, I do agree that the US should probably join the metric system. Everyone else is and it just makes conversions confusing. Even the hospitals in the US measure people in kilograms and centimeters.
