Found my propane leak at the propane pressure regulator. This is a class A MH. 31 gallon asme tank. The problem is what regulator to buy. This is horizontally mounted. This is a 2-stage regulator. Are all 2-stage horiz mounted regulators the same?

My guess is that you have a Marshall Excelsior or Fairview regulator.

Here is the Marshall Excelsior Camp and RV catalog and on page 9 (PDF page 11) the integral two stage regulators are listed. The MEGR291 series are vertical mount with vent over outlet, and the MEGR298 series are horizontal mount with the vent 90° to the outlet. The following two pages list the different models and flow rates, and accessories such as housing covers (which may be DOT required). There is very little need for a high capacity regulator, unless you are running a propane fueled generator and other high consumption appliances such as a propane fire pit, and the furnace all at once.

Here is the web page for Fairview RV regulators. Some horizontal units are shown such as the GR9959 which has a 90° vent and is designed for horizontal mount.

It is best if you are able to determine what brand regulator you presently have.

The vent needs to point down when installed and otherwise, yes, they are basically the same. Most likely yours is presently hard mounted on the inlet or forward side and on the outlet side it has a hose to connect to the RV's plumbing.
