Light bar screwing up videos

Today, Chris video'd the first of 2 Delta Strummers concerts with my small Canon videocam and the new Sennheiser MKE 440 stereo mic. Viewing on my laptop, I'm quite happy with the new mic, and it helped highlight a few tweaks we need to make to the sound board. However, a member of the Band, who happens to be sitting close to the center of the rear riser, had a light bar attached to her music stand (to illuminate music). The result is obvious in the attached screenshot.

Thanks to the position, this light staring at the camera is visible through much of the concert. It changes in relative size as Chris zoomed out, and it disappears as she panned away in either direction. The individual hadn't arrived when we set up the recording equipment, otherwise I would have seen it and blocked the light from the camera.

My video editor is Pinnacle Studio and, before I start editing, I wondered if anyone had any experience removing such a light (from the video), or at least minimizing its effect. My alternative is to re-video the whole show tomorrow (Chris won't be available for the re-do).

Electrical or gaffers tape could likely do a lot to minimize the amount of light showing.

Show the picture to the person and maybe you could rig up a piece of cardboard in front of the light or maybe put some duct tape over the front of the light

Where do I apply the tape to the video taken yesterday

I'll need to re-take the videos today. Last night we prep'd a couple of simple fixes for "light showing" today. Electrical tape and wire ties are part of it, but so is black material to fill the gap between the clip-on light and the gal's music stand.

Understood Rene, and I have the solution ready for today's re-take. Had I known in advance of yesterday's performance, I could have participated in today's performance instead of being behind the camera (Chris isn't available today).

I spent a few hours in the wee hours looking for a software solution to "fix" yesterdays videos. Looks like I need a "remove object from video" feature. It's offered/promised by a number of companies. But you have to buy their product (or sign up for a prescription) in good faith. Several "free trials", including online options, I tried either didn't work or significantly restricted what could be uploaded.

I was hoping someone might have used such a feature in video. I'm also looking at the latest offering from Pinnacle Studio (the editing software I've used for some years). Had to hit the sack to get a couple of ZZZs before I came out the other end of my research.

Looks like the latest version of Pinnacle Studio Ultimate will do what I need, so I upgraded to ver 26. I probably won't get to edit any of yesterday's videos until we're in the 5W at our lot in WY, some time next week. Meanwhile, I'm still going to re-take the videos today, partly as a backup and partly so we can make some tweaks to the sound board; Hopefully, the guy controlling the knobs and sliders will agree.

Meanwhile, I'm still happy with the Sennheiser MKE440 stereo mic I recently acquired for the band.

Thanks to the folks who made suggestions. I have material, tape and wire ties ready to go. I'll also be on the lookout for anyone else with a light on their music stand. Does this qualify me as a roadie

Add some gaffer's tape and... 🚍
LOL Larry.

Today I sat down with the gal who had the offending light and asked if it was OK for me to attach material to her light/music stand with wire ties. She decided she didn't need the light in this well-lit hall.
