Lippert solera power awning over heating

Solera power awning extends with no problem but when you go to retract the
awning it's slow winding up and stops. All the connections are good and clean but
the motor is so hot you can bearly touch it. cools down it begins to work but is
slow rewinding is the motor going bad. battery is brand new.

Maybe not enough spring tension?
