Live RV Chat coming to an end - maybe not

Good news!

A big thanks to Solarman for setting up the Virtual Campfire (aka live chat) on his server. Hopefully, Max will be willing and able to host for a little longer. Meanwhile, we need someone to volunteer as the ongoing chat moderator. Hopefully, more than one will volunteer, so the same moderator isn't committed to being available every week.

Perhaps a brief overview of what a typical day in the life of a chat moderator might look like to give one thinking of participating might be useful?

I'll defer to Max to describe her 'typical day', but the expectations of a chat moderator are simply:

• Announce the date and time of an upcoming chat, and include a link for folks to get there.
• Be online for the duration of the (weekly) chat, usually an hour or so.
• Welcome arrivals and keep an eye on the discussion to make sure it doesn't go off the rails.
• Use the provided moderation tools to deal with disruptive participants.
• Help out folks who may be having difficulty using the available chat tools.
• Maybe Max can add anything I missed.

Having more than one moderator would allow mod duties to be shared, e.g. when one moderator can't make it to a given chat for whatever reason.

That's what we're proposing. Several Moderators ... sort of a Virtual Campfire Chat Team.

The thing is, not many people use it, so I think the moderators are likely to be few.

When I'm home it's at midnight and when in the US we aren't usually home at 4pm and we don't always have a signal so I can't volunteer.
