Longer Handrails for Travel Trailer Entry Steps

Hello,

After owning a Travel Trailer for 21 years, we sold our unit, and we are looking into purchasing another unit....

Well, like the trailer has aged, so have we.

On the newer trailers are the steps that are supposed to be friendlier in design. Most of the two steps are three steps, and now, they are a little steeper.

The problem I have is that I would benefit from the exterior access handle being longer, all the way to the bottom step.

I assume there must be gadgets for the senior-limited people to go in and out of the trailer.

Can you point me in the direction of products?

If you check Amazon has quite a selection of safety rails for RV entry. With our last RV we added this Stromberg Carlson rail and also used this folding step instead of the one that was mounted to the trailer.

I wouldn't buy a trailer with those slide-out solid steps. I've seen too many problems with their use. I much prefer the folding steps and if necessary a folding step stool like Kirk pictured.

It seems like RVs are getting higher off the ground all the time. Are people really off roading in their Class A and 5th wheels? Just like pickup beds are too tall to reach over the sides. Why are we buying impractical things?

One reason rv's seem to be getting taller is that it is easier to make a floorplan when there are no wheel wells to work around. That brings the floor up. I have found a lot less problems with the solid steps than the wiggle and bend action that comes with the foldouts.
